Special Brew was formed in 1974 by Mick Step and David Braithwaite. starting out as a five piece band, they gained a large following and played their own blend of Jazz, blues and funk at various live venues such as the Iroko, Dingwalls and Ronnie Scott’s. After a long break the three original members went on to form the band Realta who have a permanent spot at Jazz after Dark on Friday nights. After the passing of David they decided to revert back to something closer to their original name and adopted the name The Brew.
