Love Through a Magnifying Glass
A special evening in ode to valentines day, featuring a live, free style orchestra to accompany the screening of the magnificent silent film ‘The Dying Swan’ (1916). Directed by Russian filmmaking genius Yevgeni Franzevich Bauer, the film tells the tale of a mute dancer working to become a professional ballerina, who meets a death-obsessed artist set on making her the subject of his next project. Following the screening, the orchestra will then perform alongside live poetry and extracts from Roland Barthes ‘A Lover’s Discourse’; presenting the theme of love from an alternative (and perhaps more realistic) perspective.
Featuring;
Helena Massip – Violin
Arnulf Lindner – Piano
LaToyah Gill – Poetry
Doors at 7.30pm
