DESCRIPTION:Nod and Paul perform some mean harmonies\, old songs and new\, often story songs. Mixing unaccompanied songs with some really classy piano playing and top notch rhythm and finger style guitar \n— \nFolk in the Cellar is an inclusive and eclectic folk club\, with an emphasis on everyone joining in. \nWe meet on the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month (except August and Christmas week) at \n£5 cash donation requested\, so we can pay our guest artists. \nMost evenings feature an extended set from a guest artist or group\, but the first half of the evening is open to anyone to share a song\, a tune\, a poem…… Some evenings are singarounds\, where the audience is the star attraction. \nWe’re not dogmatic about genre\, but we are completely unplugged. And we do not talk while people are performing\, though joining in is usually welcome

DESCRIPTION:Gretel is a 22 year old singer from London. Having been raised on a diet of Nick Cave she picked up a guitar & started writing her own gothic stories and songs at age 11. As she grew as a musician\, started going to gigs & fell in love with Tim Buckley\, Nirvana and then Wolf Alice\, her songwriting began to morph into what it is today; a mix of hi-fi grunge\, goth-pop and alt/indie ballads.  \n​Gretel’s first EPs on VLF Records – ‘Slugeye’ and ‘Head Of The Love Club’ – went off like rockets gaining A Lists on 6Music & B Lists at Radio 1 as well as two Maida Vale sessions and multiple magazine covers. Having played 60 shows in her first two years she also built an enviable live fanbase selling out Village Underground in London\, Mercury Lounge in NY and Moroccan lounge in LA in 2023 alone. \n​As she prepares to release her debut album via her own imprint Breadcrumb Records the future looks very bright for Gretel. \n​Tickets

SUMMARY:Jazz at Map Presents: Ilanjo
DESCRIPTION:Ilanjo is a project led by brothers Lior and Noam exploring collaborative composition\, fusing together their contrasting approaches to writing. \nNoam Solomons-Wise is a drummer\, composer and improviser based in London. In 2022 Noam was a semi-finalist in BBC Young Jazz Musician. His past musical projects includes The Joseph Septet\, his contemporary jazz ensemble based in Cambridge performing his own arrangements and compositions\, including at the Cambridge Jazz Festival 2022. He also founded the highly successful Cambridge University Jazz Society which continues to thrive to this day since his move to London. Noam is a graduate in Music from the University of Cambridge and is midway through studies at the Royal Academy of Music. \nLior Solomons-Wise is jazz pianist from London\, graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and winner of the 2023 Dankworth prize for jazz composition. Lior is actively part of London’s vibrant jazz scene\, leading his own quartet amongst various other projects.
