Paul Higgs presents ‘A Brief History of Jazz’
Paul Higgs – trumpet
In this show Paul presents a musical tour of the history of jazz, playing hits by the legendary greats – Bix Beiderbecke, Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Chet Baker, and Miles Davis, amongst others. He takes you from the early styles of New Orleans, swing and bebop, through to cool jazz, modal and Latin.
Paul has performed with Johnny Dankworth, Lulu, Tony Hatch, John Williams, Peggy Lee and Nancy Wilson. He has also performed in major concert venues around the world, and received a standing ovation when he played at Ronnie Scott’s in October 2014, and at the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room in June 2015. He played to a packed Culford Room at Cadogan Hall as part of their summer jazz series 2015, and returns to Ronnie Scott’s regularly.

Jeff Lardner – drums
Jeff is a drummer of outstanding reputation, and has played, recorded and toured with some of the world’s foremost musicians and singers including Van Morrison, Kylie Minogue, Natalie Cole, Bobby Womack, Gregory Porter, Bette Midler, Mavis Staples, Joss Stone, Mick Hucknall, Georgie Fame, Steve Winwood, Mark Knopfler, BBC Big Band, Syd Lawrence Orchestra.
Jenny Carr – piano
Jenny has had a diverse career, working with pop artists Jason Donovan, Julia Fordham, Bliss, Beverley Craven, Yazz , Billy Ocean, Imelda May and Ant and Dec. As well as freelancing with numerous jazz and swing bands, she is known as a sensitive and versatile accompanist, playing and recording with vocalists Caroline Nin, Sarah Moule, Nina Ferro, Barb Jungr and Robb Johnson.
Gareth Hughes – bass
Gareth is a WAMI award-winning guitar and bass player. A multi-instrumentalist and composer, he performs on electric/acoustic guitar, electric bass and double bass, across a diverse array of musical genres. He is highly active on the London jazz scene, and has performed at Ronnie Scott’s, The Vortex, The Hideaway and many other notable jazz venues throughout the capital.
