MAP Studio Cafe, London

Save the MAP Studio Cafe

The Council are closing down MAP Studio Cafe.

Despite the venues long history, Camden council are refusing to acknowledge Maps grandfather status as a heritage venue. On top of this planning permission and licencing is under threat of being denied. They need these both to be accepted or will be forced to close.

MAP Studio Cafe, on the corner of Kentish Towns Grafton and Inkerman Roads has provided a space for people to express themselves artistically through various media for 15 years now.

In short, MAP is a place that helps new performers to get on their feet and hosts established industry acts. It is used to showcase acts launching themselves into the music or art world. It hosts stand-up comedy, poetry and local community nights/ birthday parties, wakes, etc. It has been a hub of the community for those bringing their children right through to local elderly residents and is very cherished.

Camden seem to be capitulating to a small number of neighbours who have brought complaints in the past three years.

Please help, don’t let map go the way of so many other venues in a borough that supposedly prides itself on its musical heritage and applauds grass roots businesses.
