Sara Paco is a soulful singer, songwriter, guitarist, composer, arranger and producer. She is also an economist and surfer. She began singing at the age of 5 when her parents decided that their little singing bird should join the local children’s choir. At 17, they bought her a guitar and sealed her destiny. She took her guitar everywhere and began composing love songs.

When she studied economics in Lisbon, she also joined the college’s music academic group where she improved her skills. After her graduation, she travelled to Dublin, Ireland to work as an intern for a German company. She immediately fell in love with the city and its musical environment. She busked in the cold and rain and performed in venues like The Temple Bar, The Quays, Dame Tavern and The Turk’s Head. Missing family and friends, she returned to her homeland, Portugal, where she worked in a bank. Her Portuguese boss forbade her from playing live music. Apparently “the bank company could not tolerate such kind of exposure from a bank employee.” This traumatic experience inspired her to write and compose “My Boss Is A Dick Head”.

In 2014, after quitting the job she hated, she released her self-produced debut album “Waking Up The Drums” which was well received by critics. One of the songs (plastic flowers) ended up being soundtrack to a Portuguese soap opera. In 2015, missing London, she applied for The X Factor and had the chance to perform in Wembley Arena to the famous panel of judges. Simon Cowell loved her performance and she got all three yes’ and went through the next phase of the show, and was only eliminated in the bootcamp second challenge. Of thousands of contestants, she made it to the top 90.

After this X Factor experience and being told by Simon Cowell and Rita Ora that she was an an amazing talent and would reach a bigger audience if she worked more on her pop side, she immediately started listening to more pop music, electro swing and neo soul and working on becoming more commercial without losing her distinctive musicality.

in December 2015, Mazda Portugal challenged Sara to write a song inspired by their iconic roadster, the MX5. Sara wrote the music and lyrics, as well as arranging and producing, the high video rotation hit “Soul Red Car”. Mazda were so delighted by the wide exposure that they invited Sara to become their company ambassador in Portugal.

Last year, in October 31st, Sara moved permanently to London, the city of her dreams, in order to chase her dream to become a worldwide famous soul singer.

Sara Paco‘s deep voice will take you back in time to the early 30’s in America, to the years of The Great Depression when Bessie Smith sung “Nobody knows you when you’re down and out”, T Bone Walker, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Nat King Cole, the more recent Vaya Con Dios or even Tina Turner. Sara will take you on a trip where the destination is unknown. Let yourself be touched by this soulful singer, songwriter and guitarist and dive into the depths of blues, soul and jazz music.
