Andrea Pozza has been an important figure in the international jazz scene for more than 20 years. A graduate of the Nicol Pagannini Conservatory in his home town of Genoa, Italy, he has appeared on stage with legendary musicians like Al Grey, Earl Warren, Slide Hampton, Bobby Durham, Jonny Griffin, James Moody, Charlie Mariano, Chet Baker, George Coleman, Sal Nistico, Scott Hamillton, Lee Konitz, Pat Metheny, Roswell Rudd, Alvin Queen, Joe Chambers, Bobby Watson, Jack Walrath, Ferdinand Povel, John Marshall, Massimo Urbani, New York Voices and many others.

Pozza’s original sound has been inspired by many master jazz pianists including Teddy Wilson, Bud Powell, Bill Evans, Winton Kelly and McCoy Tyner. From 2004-2008, Pozza was a member of the Enrico Rava quintet, with whom he recorded The Words and Days (2007) for the ECM Label. This quintet performed at prestigious Jazz Festivals and Concert Halls in France, England, Germany, Spain Portugal, USA, Canada, Brasil, Argentina Japan and hosted important guest like Roswell Rudd and Pat Metheny. As a member of the Rosario Bonaccorso quartet, Pozza released recently two album Appunti di Viaggio (2009) and In Cammino(2011) produced by Auditorium of Roma. He continuosly perform with various groups like the Steve Grossman Quartet, with wohm he performed in London, Paris, and important Jazz Festivals around the world, the Gary Smulian-Pete Lukas Quintet, the Scott Hamilton Quartet. He was also a permanent member of the Gianni Basso quartet (the great late italian tenor player) with whom he has recorded many CDs among them a highly acclaimed album dedicated to the music of Billy Strayhorn and together with saxophonist Dick De Graff, he is leading the “Out of the Blue(s)” project.

As a leader, Pozza has recorded 9 CDs : “Introducing” for Philology Records, “PlaysEllington, Monk, and Himself” for Gofour Records, Sweet Lorraine” for the Japan label VENUS, “Love Walked In” for the English 33Records, Drop this Thing” , New Quiet” , Blue Daniel” for Dejavu Rec and his last project Gulls Flight” European Quintet and the last Trio cd “A Jellyfish From The Bosphorus” for ABEAT Records. He is a regular collaborator with Steve Grossman, Scott Hamilton, Bob Sheppard, John Marshall, Ferdinand Povel, Ferenc Nemeth and others. His project the Andrea Pozza European Quintet including important artists like Christian Brewer (alto) and Shane Forbes (drums) from England and Dick DeGraaf (tenor) and Jos Machtel (bass) from Holland. His last Trio cd “A Jellyfish From The Bosphorus” was recorded with Aldo Zunino on bass and Shane Forbes on drums Since 2008-2009 he is teaching Jazz Piano, Harmony, Ear Training and Complementary Piano in Milan Conservatory Giuseppe Verdi and he teached also in Rovigo Conservatory in 2010-2011. Now he teach Jazz Piano and Improvisation Technique in Genoa Conservatory “Nicolò Paganini. He recorded in Octrober 2013 a duo cd , “I Could Write A Book”, with the great player Scott Hamilton produced by Giulio Cesare Ricci for Fonè Jazz.
